Richard F. Verstegen
About
For over twenty years, Richard "Rick" Verstegen has served as a lead attorney and trusted partner for educational institutions. As a partner with Boardman & Clark LLP, he advises clients on a wide range of complex legal issues, including contract negotiations, labor relations, employment law, Title IX, and governance. He has established close partnerships with his clients, developing creative solutions that address legal challenges while supporting the institution's core objectives.
Rick's extensive experience includes representing clients on matters before the Department of Education Office for Civil Rights, the Wisconsin Equal Rights Division, and the Wisconsin Supreme Court. He frequently provides training for state and national organizations, such as the Wisconsin Association of School Boards, and has authored numerous publications for legal and educational associations. Prior to entering private practice, he also worked in the University of Wisconsin Athletic Department on NCAA compliance issues.
